[Can you hear me?

Her ears perk at the sound of her aunt's voice and it feels like she's home again. It's not flowers covering her body, but a blanket. She's listening to her family go about their nightly routine, surrounded by the warmth their words bring. Something in her delirious mind makes her think she can sit up to greet her and-

That's right. She can't-

walk home, you're gonna get to ride on Magnus, which is really-- it's dope

This was supposed to be quiet and she doesn't-she doesn't understand where that idea stems from. The corpses in her world didn't speak, but she didn't need to hear their ethereal voices to know how alone they were in the end. That's how it was meant to be and-

Hey listen, don't I get a hint, for finding you?

She doesn't want to be alone. She doesn't want to be alone. She doesn't want to be alone. It's cold and she's scared and her fingers haven't stopped trembling since she laid down under the stars she can no longer see and-

She can't talk. She can't say anything and please help me is-

Drowned out by that quiet, gentle hum that calms the way her heart's slamming into her chest again and again. Gives her something to concentrate beyond the rustle of grass, the sting of flowers poking through her flesh, the sudden, painful realization that she's going die she doesn't want to die please help because her aunt heard her heart and understood that-

Maybe that beautiful, quiet melody is all the help she needs, in the end. The sound of someone who loved her once lulling her into the nicest sleep she could ever hope for.
